I went to thr local TSC store top pick up the V belt I ordered for the
44 inch snow caster for the LA115 last week and for less than $25.00.
I could buy 5 of them for the price fo one JD V belt.

I now have a less costly spare V belt for it versus spending over $120.00 + tax, time,
gas and a seventy mile round trip to spend money where I bought the
LA115 6 plus years ago.

SO if anyone with a 44 inch snow caster needs one The V belt is an A116 size V belt.

I will probably check on the price for a TSC supplied Kevlar V belt of the same size sometime.

I use those belts due to price, but I find they do not last as long as OE belts. I often only get 1 mowing season cutting grass. I do share my mower with my dad so it gets double to triple duty though.

You can also order a lower priced Kevlar version from your dealer, p/n a-m155885. Pretty rough environment for that belt as it has to make a 90deg bend.

Learned a long time ago.. no substitute for Deere belts.. ;)

62C belt, JD M142997 looks to be $85..

How often does one have to replace a deck belt?

It all depends, its been every 2 years for me with 25 hours of mowing annually.
the cost is another reason to buy from NAPA or TSC as I can get 4 V belts for
the mower for the same price.

No offense taken its just a case of Moline not building a workhorse lawn tractor and attachments like a single stage front or rear mount snow caster for the consumer instead of the MTD and RAD junk that gets passed off under a coat of red, yellow, or orange paint that is all it is.

The price for a 4 wheel drive X series simply creates the same issues of low traction, new attachments, snow and ice chains and the low ground clearance with any front or belly mount attachment which is another problem.

There is no point in my buying locally for a JD series 1 or a Kubota B2370 with a loader as the price is just too **** high. I want a mule with three rear remotes or two rear remotes and a loader valve that will operate the third function(impeller drum rotation) on a Pronovost TRD800 snow caster. I wont mind going slower and riding side saddle
while riding in reverse to clear snow as long as I have a chute extension.

The other issue is resale value as the tractor and the attachments-mower, plow, snow caster are only worth $100.00 on any kind of trade or no trade as in I will take it off your hands to get rid of it for you UH HUH sure you will.

I have a snow plow from my old 1990 wheel horse hydro that I have yet to junk that weighs more than my JDLA115 so go figure and its worth more as scrap.

I keep equipment and trucks for a very long time so its better to invest in equipment that I can mount rear implements on rather than struggle like I have been for the last 6 years as it cost me a small fortune to have the drive belt changed this past year as well.

Its a two fold problem, first- the TSC belts will fail very soon if they are twisted or make a 90 degree bend. Second, John Deere pulleys have a different bevel than almost any other brand, and their line of belts has that exact bevel built in.
