TS1910/1610 ROPS

Anyone out there have one of the above fitted with ROPS, I have been searching in vain locally for a supplier with no luck. It looks like I will need to fabricate something to suit, can anyone help with info on how these are attached to the axles? I assume that the ROPS are bolted using the same fixing points as the guards. Any chance that someone can post a picture of their ROPS setup??

The TS1910 was sold in the USA as a Bolens G192. I don't know if they offered a ROPS as an option. Perhaps a Bolens/Iseki expert can tell us.

It would be good to hear form anyone that can build custom folding ROPs on how much it would cost. There is a good mounting location on the TS1610 to bolt one on.

Could you modify the ROPs from a different tractor?

Seems to me many of the Iseki grays like my TS1610 are sold without the ROPs.

The cost to build a ROPS is $10,300. $100 in material, $200 in labor and $10,000 to cover a small portion of the insurance that the builder would have to carry. I may be exagerating a bit, but that is the issue. To be certified as a ROPS requires a lot of testing, even destructive testing where they roll the tractor. It just isn't feasible on a limited production basis.

Could you have someone build a "canopy support" or "light bar" that is real strong? Maybe. Of course if you roll the tractor and do not have a seatbelt on and get trapped under it you are worse off then without one. It is best to find the exact USA model and order the ROPS if you can.

It is interesting that most of the USA "Bolens" models did not come with ROPS, nor did a lot of the Kubota and other tractors of that era. It isn't just a gray market problem.

If a friend modifies one in his home workshop based on my instructions, then I would think it is my liability.

It would be good to hear from someone that makes a ROPs designed for the 1910/1610 or same tractors from Bolens.

Thanks for your input, look like we have to do our own thing for ROPS. I have looked at several different larger makes/model to get a feel for the size of material etc required. I feel pretty confident that I can "over engineer" something suitable to make me feel safer.

Was it custom made? If it was did they need your machine to measure it up etc or was it off the shelf?

A795, It was custome made and they did have the tractor. However when I made enquires are number of ISEKI models where of the shelf not sure about your model.

I finally got around to doing the attached drawing for the ROPS for my TS1910, material is 75mmx50mmx6mm RHS (3"x2"x1/4") with 8mm plate (3/8") for the mounting brackets and 6mm (1/4) for the top plates. The yellow indicates the axle and RHS position on the lower mounting plate, the top mounting plate is cut out as detailed.
To fit it I would remove the M12 studs from the top of the axle used for mounting the guards and change them for M12 bolts and as this will allow four fixing per side 2top/2bottom at 100mm (4")centres. Estimated weight will be around 44kgs (approx 96lbs).
I thought that I would post it first for some feedback before I struck an arc. All thoughts/ideas gratefully accepted.

I see how it is adequately supported for a side impact or side to side roll over. I can't (in your drawing) see if it's supported for a front to rear flip. Are there diagonal supports in your drawing to prevent this?

The drawing is excellent. The support, attachment points and the weight appear to be very well thought out.

Whole thing worked out pretty good,very solid, just need to get a hand to mount it up and get a seat belt fitted. Only mod from above drawing was to elongate the cutout in the top plate slightly. Only mod to tractor will be the hi tensile bolts to mount it and elongated vertical holes on the mudguard mounting brackets. I'll post a picture when I get it mounted.
