Yet another vote for the Subaru. I guess i'll have to drive one. the mileage is certainly higher than most. looks like you live on a farm also, so you do similar things.

take this from someone that has sold subarus....they are fantastic. the outbacks go almost anywhere......and they last for ever. i have met more then 20 people that have well over 200k miles on theirs without any major repairs...just routine maintainence.
if i needed something small that is what i would buy. there really isnt anything safer out there...volvo included.

Okay,
i capitulated to all the subaru fans out there and drove the 2.5xt outback yesterday. this is a first for me, have never driven a subaru before, have had a truck for twenty years, so i thought i should drive it in the interest of objectivity. wow. it was way to much fun. that horizontal opposed boxer engine , turbo charged, screams. the automatic has a 'sport' setting that shifts at higher revs that leaves you grinning from ear to ear. the throttle is drive by wire and you can do can also shift with buttons on the steering wheel. i think i can maybe get this thing and still not look like its a mid life crises sports car. i think i'll have to keep the truck to haul trash in though. the gas mileage is pretty great too.
