Truax Flex II Grass Drill

Howdy All
Does anyone have experience planting with this drill ? We are planning our strategy to plant 9 acres in CRP next year. We have commited to a mix of 4 grasses and 9 forbs. These drills are avaliable through the county soil and water conservation district and Quail Unlimited but very little operating info is avaliable. Even after down loading the Truax manual I have many questions. The grass and the forbs seeds are shipped seperately. Are they combined in the warm season box or is the legume box used for the forb seeds ?

I'm not familiar w/ that drill.. but you might have to wait to see the seed size.. if all are similiar size as the grass seed.. you can just mix them all in the same box. The drill should have a chart for lbs/acre for the settings.. the seed bags will have a recommended lbs/acre for planting.

I planted some purple top turnip seeds using the grass box on my grain drill.. the seeds are as small as the grass seeds.. but round. The round seeds "flow" faster then the grass seed.. I should have cranked the "rate" down.
