troy bilt tiller model #

hi guys. im new to the forum. i just purchased an old troy bilt tiller. the casting on side of tranny says it was built 9/9/76. the serial # is 242581. i cant find a model # that is a good one. the one i found is 1003. but all the parts web sites i have looked at dont recgonize either of these numbers. can any one tell me what model i have so i can order parts? thanks

Your tiller was originally manufactured by Garden Way Manufacturiung. They went out of business a few years ago and MTD bought the Troy Bilt name. MTD stocks and sells parts for Troy Bilt equipment. You mihgt try contacting their tech support for what you are looking for. Here is a link to their page.
