I was wondering if anyone makes a good trout fishing dough?

I was trout fishing yesterday with corn and a fellow up the creek was catching a lot of fish. I ask him what he was using for bait. He came down to where I was catching nothing and baited my hook with some kind of trout dough and I cast twice and caught 2 fish!

Anyone make their own trout fish dough that will shre their formula or recipe?

Sounds interesting. I googled it and found this.

I was surprised to not find roe or worms in any of the recipes. Now Baitfisher Bill's Dough Bait Recipe makes sense to me. He mixes in some food from the local hatchery.

He probably made the dough out of high protein fish food, commonly sold in feed stores and the primary diet of most all "put and take" stocked trout.

I don't have a recipie but if I was going to make some, I'd grind up the fish food in a coffee grinder and then add some flour and/or corn starch and some oil to give it some stiffness to stay on a hook. Microwave it a bit and it should be ready. Experiment with it and I'd bet before long you can create a prize fish bait.

This sounds like a good ideal! I will try it.

If my wife discovered this you wouldn't be using any coffee grinder...
