Went to re-hitch the hoe on my BX23 and can't close the distance between the hose ends enough to join the ends again. I guess I should have blocked the butt of the hoe up when I removed it. Now its sitting on the floor of the barn with the stabilizers splayed out like a giraffe on the ground. I could remove air from the tires or try to jack the hoe up somehow. Or am I missing something obvious? Thanks, Rusty4242

You may be able to raise the BH with the stabilizer arm.

If it's on the ground. Raise the arms enough to slide something solid under the arm pads. A patio block, 3/4 plywood would work. What you want is something the pad will slide on as you raise the BH with the arms. If you're on a pad in a garage, it should be easy.

Eventually you will raise it enough to hook up.

You may have to disconnect once it's up and pull the tractor away and back in anew

my bx 24 would drop but there was alway enough hose to rehook them. can you reroute the hose to reach and get the bh up. then but the hoses back

It's been forever since I've dismounted mine on the floor but I don't recall the lines being to short to reach and since I dismount on a dollie I've never had this problem but I'm trying to visualize it.
A couple suggestions.
1) using the joystick to relieve the pressure while simultaniously pushing back on the top of the backhoe's grab-bar which should pivot and raise the bottom mounting bracket up high enough for the tractor to back up closer.

2) Use the FEL to raise the BH up high enough to place a block under it to raise it up.

Good luck Rusty

All else fails run to the store and make some short adapter hoses.

Are you sure none of the hoses won't reach? I wouldnt bother trying to line up the BH to hook up lower pin, just back in far enough to hook up the hoses. Once you got it hooked up , you can use the stablizers to lift the BH frame off the ground then disconnect and line up bottom pins. Just like Volfandt says, if worse comes to worse, just use the FEL to lift the BH frame off the ground so you can block it up.

I had to use the FEL once due to the uneven ground outside and the BH sat in a depression so the hoses were nearly 8 inches away! (pretty humbling stupid, even for me) This experience taught me LOOK underneath the BH frame and see how much space there is before dropping it. Now I always drop it on a peice of scrap 4X6 wood 6 inches long I had laying around. I hate the thought of paint touching the dirt or on concrete floor sucking up the moisture, so when the time comes to put it back on, its a peice of cake every time.

Thanks, all. I am embarrased to say I did'nt think of using the loader to lift it. I think they call those senior moments...

Mine gets parked on a length of 6x6.

I would be very surprised if the manual doesn't say you need to park it on a block for just this reason. ;)

Got it! I cut a nylon zip tie in between the stabilizers that bound up the hoses and was able to get enough slack to do the job. Thanks, Broncorm. Hey, I was in your neck of the woods the other day to visit the American Precision Museum (and the Harpoon Brewery). Both great places.
