Transmission Whine

I am new to any tractor and just purchased a new L3200 for my property. First thing I noticed was a whine when giving it gas (both forward and reverse), I'm assuming this is a "standard" noise that the trasmission has? The engine sounds fine when idling, but that sould is odd/different. Is this normal for a hydro tractor? Sure it is normal considering it only had 0.9 hours; I did not pay much attention when test driving, etc.

I owned a B3200 TLB and that is a normal sound from the HST Hydro. Try and get use to not saying gas, because someone sometime just may put gas in that Diesel and oh boy you will have issues.Oh one more item make sure you do not have the parking break on.

Welcome to TBN and tractor'en! A might friendly and HELPFUL group living here.

Since your tractor is brand new, immediately check the fluid levels in the front axle and the rear end. There are a bunch of threads here that talk about new tractors being very low on fluids. Seems the dealers don't make a habit of checking these out very closely. Some whine may be normal however. You may be able to kill it by filling the ROPS with something (but I'd save that for later when you get to know the rig and what you think you wanna do with it).

My Kubota Hydro whines. My neighbors John Deere Hydro whines. I can tell if a tractor has Hydro or not just by listening to them operate.

Yep, it's normal. It will be more pronounced under load, selecting the right range will lessen it, but it's just the nature of the beast.

Yes, it is normal and the transmission cooling fan is also noisy, and you might also be hearing some harmonics from other metal on the tractor. I wear earplugs when I use mine.
