B2400HSD
Hi folks.. New member, longtime reader. Have an issue that I'm hoping you can help with. I have a B2400HSD with 423 hrs on it. Was plowing some light snow a few weeks ago and lost all hydraulic power in loader, 3pt and lost forward / reverse all at once. Shut machine off, let rest for 30 min and was able to limp machine back to garage in L gear range.

Spent next week looking into problem and best i can figure it could be an issue in either the hydraulic pump, value or clog or (dare i say) hydro transmission. Detached weight box and loader attachment to try and isolate if loader valves were to blame. No change. Further drained hydro, replaced hydro fluid, filter and removed & cleaned screen. Hydro fluid was dark although didn't smell burnt. Was some metal shavings in fluid when drained and on screen. Always use OEM Kubota parts & fluids. Issue improved slightly (5-10%) but was no magic bullet. After oil change (and letting run) took for a test in driveway. When in H, and depressing forward or back, engine bogged as if under very heavy load.

At this point, can engage transmission, hear a whine when clutch is out. When try to move forward or back, i get very little response, jerks a bit unpredictably and can feel slight to moderate periodic pulsating in the pedal. Pedal does not return to neutral position.

Any initial thoughts? Next step will be to pick up hydraulic pressure test and or send to dealer to diagnose. Appreciate your thoughts. Thanks

The hydraulic pump is mounted on the engine & the HST pump/transmission is located behind the engine. The only thing they share is the hydraulic fluid & common sump. Each hydraulic circuit should even have it's own filter (Ls do at least). Both going out at the same time would indicate a lack of hydraulic fluid.

Water in fuel? Clogged Fuel filters? You mentioned it 'bogged'. For pressures, easy enough to pop a gauge in the line and see what ya see. (Truth be a 'gauge pack' sure would be a nice oem option)

Thanks Fallon. I do not see in the workshop manual a 2nd filter / screen set for the Hydro system. Fluid level was normal. Given the hydraulic pump forces oil to power steering, hydraulic block outlet, hydraulic cylinder and HST transmission, all of which are acting up, I'm leaning toward that being the culprit. I'll be sourcing a Pressure / flow gauge as next step in diagnosing. Thanks for the help.
