OK, Thanks everyone, I'll try the test light, that would normally be my first weapon of choice, don't know why I grabbed the meter in this case. I'll also use a different ground than the one in the plug.

I also have the test light with the battery in it for checking continuity, use that one the most.

A good friend of mine is a master electrician, been one for 20 years, works on the big 1000 volt plus DC stuff in the tunnels for subways and the like, and to this day when I ask him a question about just how electricity works he'll say, you know, not many of us even totaly understand just how it works.

I took a post grad electrical course at the local trade school, just basic house wiring, I drove the instructor crazy with all my electrical theory questions, I wasn't satisfied with the "water in the pipes" explanation.

The instructor told me to forget about theory and stick to the basics :(
That short course has enabled me to handle most of my residential electrical needs though.

JB, keep it simple. Hook the truck up and let it sit for a few days. If the battery goes dead then you know there is a problem.:D
