Trailer Tires

Hello to all,

Need two P215/75R15 trailer tires. Any specific brand or ones to stay away from? Is there an online outfit you can recommend? Never bought tires online, so I was wondering if that route is even good due to no seeing before they arrive?

This is for my farm 18Ft trailer [4 total tires, no brakes] that 99% of the time never leaves the ranch. Used mainly for hauling things around the farm.

I used to go to Walmart and get Goodyear or Carlise tires and then they can be covered under warranty at any Walmart however they stopped offering road hazard on trailer tires.

So now you can pay for a cheap unknown brand tire at Walmart and if it fails just buy another one, or you can go to Discount tire and get brand name with road hazard but you may pay about double or a little more even.

To me it's worth paying more for a better brand tire that is less likely to fail, but it is a crap shoot.

Many years ago there was a member here, Diamondpilot, that seemed to know what he was talking about and he highly recommended "Greenball" sold by Costco as the best bang for the buck.

Tire rack cheapest was $105. Walmart has Tornel for $76. Are Tornel any good?

My neighbor is in the process of rehabilitating a utility trailer and last week, he got a very good deal at Mavis Tires. I doubt he bought the most expensive tires because he intends to flip the trailer but in any event, it may be worthwhile to check.

Put on a set of Mastertrack 8 ply tires last year. So far they have performed well. Made in china but almost all are now, maybe some Goodyear not. 320.00 for set out the door at my local tire shop. Owner said he had better luck with this brand than any others he had sold in earlier years.

If you are going to keep the trailer, put good tires on it!

I WILL NOT buy china tires for anything I'm going to keep!

Simple sells Tornel, but I have never owned one. They are made in Mexico, owned by an India company apparently .. from Simple's website:

For that usage I'd definitely go with a bias ply tire. They tend to be cheaper, stronger, and it really won't matter how much out of round they are.

My trailers all get black round tires that hold air. Same for 2 of my vehicles. Thousands of miles combined each year..even on the trailers. Never a blow out. All Dryrot or get low on tread prior.

I have the same brand on my stuff. Been satisfied with them so far.

"P" tires are passenger car tires, made for a soft ride. If you want durability and low cost, buy bias-ply "ST" trailer tires.

I looked at costco and nothing was cheap, and the selection was very limited. I was kind of surprised.
