Question Bondo, how much time did you spend researching this before asking ?

The name "Bondo" gives others the idea that he might know something it.And after reading his remark, if he needs some hints, I got a few.

Dude get a life, I mean really...it's a name. BTW how does being able to use bodyfiller have anything to do with putting stripes on a trailer??

It's not that my skin isn't thick- I love to joke around. Your tone was just uncalled for- which was obvious to more than one member on this forum.

About as much time as you do being a dick.

With all due respect- I too read more than a little sarcasim in Willl's remarks.

Cant we all just get along :)

No argument, there was tone, but not anymore than you would get asking 'how to do TNT' in the hydraulics department.

Guess I figured somebody with a name like his would have enough cajones to handle it.

Had he spent half the amount of time he did posting here looking up his question in the first place just to gain a 'basic' knowledge on the subject,,,

Ok I usually sit by and watch the squabbles go back and forth but this time I must comment. will I believe the comment you made probably wasn稚 the best one to make about a new member who like all of us are here to learn. And are thankful there is a host of people willing to help out. That is what makes this place so good. Like mom always said if you don稚 have something nice to say to some one say nothing at all.

All I wanted to know was if there was a special way to paint this stripe...that's it.

And what do you know, there is thanks to the advice and knowledge of the members on here.

Besides if I made my screen name my birth name, *****, no one would help me.

Your right. I should of said nothing.

I should do as somebody else suggested, "fill out the reply box and instead of hitting the reply button, hit the X in the top right corner.
"Just as much satisfaction as replying"

I know I've learned from this thread.

Now I want to pinstripe something just so I can try out those 3M stripes. Maybe my welding cart.

I have painted and striped, cars and vans my whole life.

Painting on stripes requires the right type of paint, and good technique.

Save yourself a lot of trouble, and don't paint them, use the stripe tape.

Remove the backing about an inch, (if there is one), and place one end of the stripe, on the end of the item your striping. Unroll enough stripe to go the length of your project. Holding the tape taught, and away from the surface, remove the rest of the backing. Pull the tape straight and gently lay it against the surface. If the tape is where you want it, gently finger it down, then press hard to set the adhesive. If it is not where you want it, you can lift and reset it. Cut the ends while holding them above the surface, with a brand new razor blade. DO NOT CUT THE PAINT. Pinstripes usually have a clear protector on top called a liner. If there is a liner, peel it back with your finger, or use a piece of masking tape to lift it, and remove it completely.

Thanks Ray! Sounds great. I found a video on how to do it. And I agree with you, it will be much easier!

Good luck Bondo...you'll find with a little practice you can do a really nice job. I would use single line tape on a trailer..The doubles take a little bit more trial and error to get right on rounded stuff..Like fenders.

Ignore the rude remarks..99.9% of this site is really helpful and friendly. A little friendly ribbing happens...But hey!!!

I have tried to freehand lines in the past with really bad results, but that maybe just too much coffee.

A little tool was mentions with a wheel to apply the paint. Eastwood sells one, as do many other compainies. See their item 37024

Good Luck!

A lot of the guys that paint stripes with a brush, will still use masking tape as a guide, on the long ones.
