Trailer \"D-Ring\" Question

The trailer I recently bought has four HD D- Rings mounted to the 2" pine decking. I checked underneath the trailer and the bolts run thru the decking and then pass thru another 2"'x6" piece of presure treated lumber than runs across the decking from side to side. Is this something I should be concerned about? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Be careful you don't trip over them. If the "D" rings are intended to lash down a tractor or other heavy gear I would think the bolts would run through the frame at some point.

At a minimum, there should be big heavy fender washers between the nuts and the backup board. You could improve it with some steel plate in lieu of the washers.

Re: Trailer \"D-Ring\" Question

I ran some angle iron pieces across the flooring underneath, spanning 3 or so boards, and then bolted the rings through that.
