Tractor upgrades and CUT deaths

Yeah, I still own and operate an 8N ford, with-out Rop, but no-one has offered any kind of discount on protection. Plus they still sell like hotcakes here. Every week someone ask is it for sale. 1951 model and tough as nails. Now I have Orange in my driveway too, it has Rop, but must always fasten the seat belt, very hard to turn-a-round in the seat???Jy.

Paul in Vt, Well some kind of data fault on that site. Thanks, But probably just keep something always behind me. Besides now I seem to feel when the Ford will rare-up. Maybe you won't be able to read about me anytime in the future.I will have to take the ROPs in half to get my Bota into the garage for maint this winter. Jy.

They don't make a ROPS for the MF 8040/8045 anymore-- when the ROPS standards changed my guess is that there weren't enough of these out there to justify the cost of the engineering and testing a new flavor [the 8040 and 8045 did come with optional OE ROPS, but a lot of people did not buy the non-folding ROPS].

If I was buying a used tractor now w/o a ROPS, I'd first check to see if I could get a ROPS. If not, I'd avoid it, let someone else have all the excitement working on slopes and hills.

Front end loaders increased danger risk of turning over. 2 years ago my brother in law died on a small ford. it was a 600 series ford. he was just pulling a trailer. A roll bar and seat belt would have saved his life.

I liked the statement "Researchers say the steepness and hilliness of farmed terrain largely accounts for the differences in rollover rates."

No sh*t, Sherlock? :D
