I have a 2004 Kubota L3400 DT with 273 hours. The person I bought it from did not tell me that it was leaking transmission oil . After the fact, I found out. NOW, I have a very sick KUBOTA TRACTOR. I need help and so does my tractor. Here is the problem.

1. Clutch and pressure plate working fine.
2. Reverse seems to be working fine.

3. Low-1 is weak, Low-2 is weaker, Low-3 barely moves, and Low-4 does not move.
4. Hi-1, 2, 3, and 4 just does not move the tractor.

I have a "WSM workshop manual" for my tractor but it does not have the I information I need, it could be that I do not know exactly what I am looking for. Thanks in advance.

Does it have a hydraulic shuttle? Thats the only thing I could think would affected by low fluid. The gears dont slip. Weird that reverse is ok.

Before I found out that there was something wrong with the transmission, I went to the Kubota dealer and bought an oil filter and the hydraulic transmission oil. Later I found out that something was wrong. They told me the transmission was standard and did not mention anything about hydraulic shuttle. I do not know anything about tractors so please excuse me.

L3400 DTs have regular gear transmissions and two ranges. Forward Low range and reverse are mechanically shuttle-able.

I suggest going to a dealer. Transmission work on tractors is complected.

Sounds like a weak or not fully engaged clutch, does reverse work strong in all 4 gears?

The forward gear problem sure sounds like a slipping clutch as it gets worse in higher gears. Check for free play when the clutch is released.

L3400 clutch or throw out bearing does not fully release. Op said clutch works properly but if worn or rusted transmission shaft could be bearing does not move its full range on shaft.
Repaired one that the holding clips on throw out bearing had became disconnected should smell the hot clutch.
245 hours could be failure from the day one.

Hi David, Ray here. As I mentioned before, I do not know much about tractors. I have no problem with the clutch or pressure plate. Both seems to work as they should real smooth not hard to press but firm. It does not make any noise when shifting into any of the gears. AND as for the reverse, it seem to move as slow OR as fast as it did before the transmission problem. IF the reverse IS NOT WORKING AS IT SHOULD.....Is there anything that you can conclude? THANK YOU FOR YOU RESPONSE.

What is the spec for free play at the top of the clutch. Many are about 3/4".
