Buying Advice Tractor for large garden

I think someone mentioned an Allis Chalmers "G". I have one and they are great cultivating tractors. Here is the new version:

They seem to be about the same size as my BX, no?

More ground clearance..............makes a huge difference when cultivating.

The Bolens has 'roughly' a 12 inch ground clearance...........the BX series has about 6 inches. Thats a lot when working with growing plants.

EDIT: The OP has the right idea.......

A farmall cub, or an old Powerking/economy tractor has a 24 inch ground clearance............great for garden work.

Personally I would look into a farmall cub or similar with cultivators. I use my 8N with plow and disc to work the ground and my cub for cultivating once the rows set and plants in the ground. It seems as though with your JD you would have all tillage taken care of and if not a cheap used plow and disc or a tiller would be easy to find for the 3pt instead of trying to find everything for a new smaller tractor. If you are looking antique then I think an Allis G or cub (or any other tractor designed for cultivation) would be the way to go.

After reading all the posts, I think this would be the way to go :

1- JD : All the ground work (I already have one used JD plow that I picked up last year and a disc that need some repairs and new paint)

2- A Cub of something similar for the cultivation
