Tractor Chains

Looking to purchase a new set of rear chains. Looking for advice!!! tirechains.com has two sets I like. The V-bar Duo Group or the ring set with 2 1/2 inch rings. I'll be using them for snow removal and gathering sap in the spring in dirt/mud. Which would be the best set?
They say the rings are better at traction. Alot of farmers around here have the ring type but what keeps the rings from falling down in between the bars. The chains I have now do just that and lately I've broken a few cross links. They were hard used to begin with but the price was right. Free /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Search on Goggle for Valby ice chains. I have a set and love them but the price may not be as good as the last ones you purchased.

Hi Pete, priced Valby's. $695.00!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Proberly will go with the Duo V Bar set on tirechain.com. Don't look half bad and there half the price. Of course I still haven't ruled out a set of 2 1/2 inch double rings ether.

Just installed a set of Trygg chains - so far so good. Haven't tried them in the snow yet so we'll see. They certainly grip in the front lawn /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif
Got them used myself but priced them new out of interest - $650 Cdn. including shipping, for a set that will fit 11.2 x 28 tires.

Yes the Valby's are pricey. I think that I paid $560 2 yrs. ago for 14x24'sx3/8" link. Unless you are into light to medium logging you are probably better off getting something that is not so pricey.

Give old Walt a call. Granted it was a couple of years ago, but I paid only $400 for mine. Those double rings are awesome in muck, but make for a rough ride.
