The 6 bolts just have to help the top weldment/pin bushings hold things in place. They are in "shear" condition, meaning they would have to shear off sideways to fail. They have to hold the forces applied by the 2 cylinders underneath the plate and any force built up with momentum of swinging the boom. And remember, about 1/2 of the force available will be on the underneath weldment. The momentum mass could be greater than the force of the cylinders. Could it be the weakest link? Possibly, but If BFreaky puts a pressure regulator in the line to the 2 cylinders, he can adjust the amount of pressure which will also slow the speed of the cylinder movement. which might be a good thing.

Understood, and the reason for my question. Granted, the shear forces for the most part look to be in parallel in line with bolt placement with the obvious variation due to position of the swing cylinders at any given position. But I have wonder if eventually something in that area will fail or become distorted to the point of being obvious. Could be I'm full of it too. Who knows. Not like it hasn't happened before. :)

LOL, I know I'm full of it. I sometimes have to go to the bathroom twice a day! Which means anything that I stated immediately before going to the bathroom doesn't count because I was full of cr@p.
:)

If necessary he could weld a "rib" under the plate that would take the lateral force instead the bolts.

The plate you're talking about is 25 mm thick, that's 1 inch so it should hold all the forces these cylinders can produce. The bolts are M16, high quality

Well, around 3000 $ ...give or take few $.

The main cause for "ee" was my great programming ability, so at first I wanted to go that way, but later figured that machines are my real passion and something I really wanna to do

I built houses and played with redoing cars most of my life. When I retired I bought a wire feed welder, an Ellis bandsaw, and a drill press. It is just fascinating what one can come up with when diving into a steel pile. I fabed both mounts for a Bradco backhoe mounted on a TC 55 DA New Holland. Also some pivoting projects, blades and an adjustable turning mount for a pto operated landscape machine. Your skills are a bit over and beyond my applications but I would have been very happy in a fab shop many years back.
Please keep us posted on future projects.

I completly understand what You mean. Alot of useful things can be done at home in a workshop and it's always more fun and value when you do it yourself. Anyone can go and buy finished product, but that can't be compared to the feeling of doing something all by yourself.

Alright....it is Thur. already. Are you going to be posting any more photos any time soon? I'm getting a bit anxious myself. After all that hard work, I'll be surprised if you don't put a really KILLER paint job on that thing. MAROON & GRAY...ALL the WAY! Go Dawgs!!!

I know it's Thursday; had no free time these days, and when I was working a little it was mainly surface cleanup, grinding etc. Preparation of some parts for first painting; so that's why I have no new pictures. It's a lot of work and not much to show. :) I'm planning on taking a few pictures tomorrow afternoon

Congratulations! I wish I had the money to come for the wedding. :)

They often say, a man should have all his toys in order, before marriage.
