Tractor/Atv dump trailer

I was all set to build something on the order of a Muts or Versa trailer for the tractor/atv, had most of the materials priced out (over 1k) and I got a phone call from a bud asking me if I knew anyone interested in his old trailer to send them his way, well 100 bucks later I had me a 5x12 single axle project.

The plan,, well I had several but I chose the path of least resistance. I should end up with a 5x6 dump I instead of the 4x6 I originally wanted, I just can't see spending the labor cutting everything apart for 1 foot. If I had wooded paths yes but I am all open ground so I will forgo the extra effort. Progress so far.

Yes it was to good to pass up and although I had to change the end look and size of the trailer it is a better option. Actually my bud offered it to me for 50 bucks but I refused and we settled on 100.

Well a bit of progress. So far additional coin spent,,, 23 bucks for 3 bolts and a spool of mig wire.View attachment 574608

Will do, currently the welder is down or there would be more progress. The new whip should be here anytime and we will be back in business.

You could convert it to deck over and shorten the axel which would probably be less work than cutting a foot out of the trailer.

I think you would be correct, and I thought about doing just that but the bed and hitch height would increase a lot which I really don't want. In fact I removed the suspension and was able to lower the unit by 6". I haven't done the research yet but I wouldn't mind changing out the hubs and getting a set of shorter tires to lower it even further.
