I have a Howse 6FT bush hog and the manual does not indicate the bolt torque for the blots attacting the blades to the circular "stump jumping" plate. Any suggestions woold be appreciated.

1000ft-lbs is about right.

I think theyre 1" high grade fine thread. Depending on bolt Grade, bolt torques on that size range up to more than 1000. Gr 5 is about 600. Gr 8 is about 1000. I would not go less than the Gr 5 torque recommendation for the diameter the bolts are. Measure them and go from there. ... or just hammer the heck out of them with a strong 1/2" impact gun. That might leave them just a little on the loose side.

I use a 1" ratchet set and a 6 foot bar on the ratchet handle. I put both arms into it. A 1/2" rattle gun is not going to do it, and them bolts are expensive, so don't risk losing one!
