Top-N-Tilt

I'm working hard at purchasing a new L5030HST. I was looking through some of the options and accessories to be sure I don't miss anything I should have and ran accross L8326 Top-N-Tilt. Can anyone tell me what this feature is and should I order it for a general farm use tractor that I will use to mow a 8 acre pasture, grade 2500' of gravel road, general work around a 50 acre mountain farm.

I do like cool features but this tractor w/ LA853 & BH90 and several attachments is already getting up their in price so I want only good options that apply to my kind of work.

Thanks for any help you can give me on this option.... Never had this, don't even know what it is so maybe I won't miss it..... ?????

OK, I did some research and understand what top-n-tilt does. It's just a hydraulic replacement of the three adjustments on the 3PH.

Now here's my next question. I am going to order the BH90 backhoe which I understand the 3PH arms must be removed. In that case does the TnT option make it a nightmare to remove the arms or is it no big deal, just two lines and the arms with cylinders attached? It will be Kubota factory option.

The top and tilt cylinders and hoses usually come off easily enough. It might take 4 minutes to remove instead of 2. If you order the t-n-t from Kubota you'll have 2-3 sets of remote hydraulic couplings behind your seat. The t-n-t cylinder hoses would attach to the couplers. Disconnect the four hoses, remove the pins holding the two cylinders and you're done.

The factory TNT kit for Kubotas only includes 2 cylinders. You have to order the remote valves seperately.

I would forego the Kubota cylinders and get ones with double pilot operated check valves. The cost will be about 50% less than Kubotas but the cylinders will be much better and the check valves will prevent drift. There are plenty of posts talking about check valves and TNT cylinders.

I see from another post your are getting the standard Kubota remotes, all three. That's good since they are nicely integrated into the tractor. Pricey but good.

The L8326 $615 TNT kit is 2 cylinders and hoses. Much better units with check valves can be had from CCM (see previous post) for about half the Kubota price. The Kubota cylinders WILL leak down. The check valve cylinders will NOT.

Thanks, I looked at that web site and will make that change... I can see that if the Kubota cylendars don't have check valves they will be a problem.....

I use the CCM Top N Tilt system. You will LOVE a TNT. I also use a PHD on a fairly regular basis, so I have to remove the top cylinder to use that implement, its as simple to remove a hydraulic top link as it is to remove a standard top link. There are a couple quick disconnects to free the hose, but other than that, its a quick process.

PHD is a Post Hole Digger.

Because of the way it connects to the tractor, no top link is used. It is one of the very few implements that connects without a top link.

Yes. And much more so with the quick couplers used to connect them. However, when I can remove them just as fast as the standard setup, I would still use the quick couplers. Anybody know if the aftermarket cylinders would still hold with the quick couplers? To attach my PHD, PIA, I can have the top link off in about 1 minute. My weight box is sitting on the TC24 in the driveway now, the 3pt has been in the full up position all night. The TNT system uses IE check valve cylinders purchased from Mark Carter at CCM. When I went out this morning to get the newspaper, I noticed no leakdown on the 3pt, and the side tilt cylinder is still in the retracted position, the top cylinder is still holding the weight box tight against the tractor. Now as the kid I hired to install my a new fountain and cut some sod was last using the tractor (while I spend the day in Chicago yesterday enjoying the food in Chinatown) I do have to wonder why he didn't lower the 3pt, but the check valve hydraulic cylinders hold tight even over night.

Thanks Bob. Mine would be full out on the top and all the way down on the one side. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif It's rather disconcerting to see a box blade at such an angle when you don't expect it. Perhaps if it becomes an issue during operation I'll have to invest in some cylinders with check valves like the ones you have from CCM. I wonder why Kubota doesn't use those? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif The leakdown I have on mine was tested by a Kubota rep and fell into the "normal" category with quick couplers. I really don't know why the quick couplers make a difference. The FEL uses quick couplers, and it doesn't leak down now that they replaced the damaged lift cylinder. However, Kubota has a completely different allowable rate of leak down for the T&T when not hard plumbed to the tractor. I can't imagine having them attached that way!

I have a PHD from myh skid steer loader that I going to adapt to the front loader in this tractor. I will make it attach to the bucket on the left side. Then use the front remotes I'm adding to turn the auger. This way I can drill infront of me and see what I'm doing. Plus I have the unit left over anyway. Use what you got when you can.

Brent, I had read enough about leakdown on regular cylinders prior to deciding on the Integrated Engineering designed system to know that IE figured out the right way to do it. I don't claim to know much about hydraulics, but I guess I'm just pretty **** about doing advance reasearch. I can't tell you HOW or WHY the check valve cylinders don't leak down, but if they do, it is in such tiny amounts that you'd need a micrometer to measure it.
