I just traded tractors and my new one (L5240) has a cat 2 3pt hitch. This is new to me as my previous tractor (L3130) was a cat 1.

I'm having problems getting my new top link to adjust. During the process I removed it from the tractor and realized that one end (the tractor end) is cat 1 in size and only the implement end (the one that will not adjust) is cat 2. My question is; is this how it is supposed to be? Seems odd to me but I really have no idea.

Yes, that's how they come.

Mine turns freely so you may want to disassemble and clean then regreese and put back together.

Go to tractor supply and get some cat 1 to cat 2 bushings so you can run both.

You will need for top link and lift arms.

Thanks for the response.

This makes me think that swapping out the cat 2 top link with a cat 1 would be much more convenient since all my implements are cat 1.

Certainly an option.

Will still need bushings for your lift arms. I have a mix of cat 2 implements so it's easier for me to carry bushings.
