I've got a new Kubota MX5400. The top link on the 3-point hitch has a jam nut to keep it from losing adjustment. Does the jam nut just need to be hand-tight, or should more torque be used such as tightening with a wrench?

I don't use a manual toplink anymore but when I did I did the same as Bill. Sometimes they will tighten themselves enough you have to use a wrench to loosen them.

I have one tractor with that type of third link and if I don't snug it with a wrench it will loosen up when I am bush hogging.

My top link never comes loose but my side link moves all the time if i dont tighten it , Especially with the brush hog,

I would snug up the jam nut with a wrench. I have a hydraulic top link now. SOOOOO.. much better.
