Toothbar

Mine is still in pieces, another winter project. I decided to build my own as no one I could find locally could supply at what I called a reasonable price. To buy from the States was going to cost me over CN$500 to land in my yard. I got the teeth for less than CN$120 (off ebay) and the metal at work for zilch.

Good luck. If you know how to weld then a toothbar should not be a huge challenge at all. They are pretty simple devices and hardly precision tools. Just make sure you rig it so the teeth are snug up against your bucket edge once bolted in place the whole bucket/toothbar acts as a single piece.

Great news, my toothbar is already in Indiana. It shipped on Friday and should get here on the 23rd.

It's going to be another one of those wonderful rushes of owning something new that works great. I think you'll be very pleased at the increase in utility of your loader with the TB on.

Today I learned to never trust UPS shipment tracking. Despite UPS still reporting that my toothbar is in Indiana, it now rests on my doorstep. The wife called to tell me it arrived without packaging and hoped I wouldn't get upset that some paint had been damaged. I think that'll be fine.

What could damage it??? Mine came plastered with UPS labels but no packaging. The only reason to package the beasts would be to protect the drivers from those snarling teeth. Just make sure the two bolts/nuts and mounting plates are attached to one of the teeth.

Mine looked the same except the fish plate, bolts, and nuts were actually put together as they will be when installed. The goofy UPS guy set the thing up against the house.

I removed the fish plates to size the bit needed. Surprise, 1/2" seems the exact right size. The bit I have is very abused so I may be bit shopping tomorrow. No apparent bending or damage from shipment. These are the kind of packages that tick off the UPS guys and get thrown about, dropped, kicked and all that. The good thing is that this toothbar is just dangerous enough to touch that they would have a hard time damaging it unless they dropped it out of the truck.

The steel in your bucket sides is mild. Just about any bit will cut through quickly. I drilled a pilot then went right to the 1/2 inch drill bit with a 18 volt drill and a little oil. No problem.
