hey all,
after much deliberation and reading in here, i bought a tooth bar. got it from markham welding. i ordered it last thursday and got it today,,,now is that fast or what? its a 48 inch one for my kubota. havent had the chance to fasten it yet but the quality appears to be very good. others have stated, and i agree, their a top flight outfit. bar and shipping was 189.00. it was sent to the nearest trucking depot to me and i went and picked it up. on a scale of one to ten i would not hesitate to give markham a ten. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif oakwood

Nothing to do with your actual toothbar but, I've had common carriers deliver to my residence before. Why did your toothbar have to go to a trucking depot /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

From what they've told me, residential delivery costs $35 more and someone has to be there to unload the item.

I just ordered a super heavy duty 1 1/2" shank 70.5" toothbar from Carver last week, it's a W.R. Long custom product and weighs 133 pounds, UPS is shipping directly to our door at home.

Do you have the bolt on cutting edge on your bucket?
How much for toothbar from Carver? Shipping?
I have a Kubota 723 loader w/ bolt on cutting edge.
I was ready to order from Markham but their's won't fit over the bolt on cutting edge. I'd have to remove the cutting edge before installing the toothbar.
I'm looking for other options.

You may want to check with a Woods Equipment dealer for their heavy duty toothbar designed for bolt on cutting edge.
They are listed on Woods site under skid steer equipment.

I've been looking at these online from a number of sources but I hadn't priced Markham yet. If the quality is there (and it looks like it from the photos) this is a good buy. I ordered one for my Yanmar too. Thanks for posting the tip!

Anyone have any tips on how to straighten the lip of my bucket - I hooked just the edge under a big ol rock and bent it down. If it had bent the other way it would be a peice of cake, I'd just grab a big **** hammer and beat it straight, but hitting upward I can't get enough power in my stroke to straighten it, so it's going to have to be a leverage device of some sorts. Any ideas appreciated!

Set the bottom of the bucket down on a concrete floor and use a bottle jack or a floor jack with a 2 X 12 on top of the jack placed inside the bucket. You will most likely need to go a bit further with the bend in the bucket than you suspect as it will bounce back as you release pressure on the jack.

Go slow and make small changes until you get it back straight....

Unpin the bucket from the FEL and turn it over. John

Duh, do I feel stupid! Great idea, I can whack the heck out of it once it's on the ground and get it straight.................thanks.......

BTW, shipping on mine was $69.68, and that was to a business address..........

If you really want to straighten it out, you may have to get someone to heat it to the proper temp to help put it in place. Find someone who knows what he/she is doing though because they could ruin the tensile strength of the bucket.
You need to have a metal piece behind the bend to bang on. Maybe you could find something, or make something stationary enough to take the force of the blows, with metal wedged behind the bend. John
