Kubota L2800
I have a Kubota L2800 and need to dig out some small trees, shrubs and cactus. It seems that a tooth bar would make this a lot easier. I checked with the Kubota dealer and they want $460 + freight for the bar. Would it be beneficial and are there lower cost options? Also, by seat belt won't retract and I need a new one. Same dealer wants $160 + freight. This seems a bit high for a seat belt, but I've never bought one before. Any suggestions on this one as well?

If you want to dig with your front loader, then yes, a tooth bar is almost essential.

Check ebay for an iowa farms tooth bar, should be around $300. Very good quality and customer service.

You could replace your seatbelt with a generic non retractable one if you can find some good bolts to anchor it to. Should be much cheaper... no way I would pay $160 for a seatbelt.

Thanks on the tooth bar. I figured there was a less expensive alternative. Same on the seat belt. For $160. I can do without retractability.

For the tasks you have specified a Bucket Spade would allow more precision. A tractor/loader needs at least the weight and power of your L2800 (30-hp/2,500 lbs.) to make a Bucket Spade effective. Do you have 4-WD? You use wheel power to drive spade into the ground, not primarily FEL hydraulic force.

It is time to upgrade your tractor information. Include horsepower and weight so we do not have to visit tractorData.com all the time.....

Check out Bxpanded, they make a toothbar called the Piranha, which is supposed to be really good for clearing brush and digging up plants and small trees. I just ordered one for my BX25 for $229. I believe they make custom lengths up to 6 feet. Here's a thread discussing the Piranha. http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/kubota-owning-operating/284670-piranha-tooth-bar.html

Hi Mr. DaCoonz,

I think both the piranha tooth bar (PTB) and the spade have uses in the situations which you describe.

While I have both, and mostly find the PTB more helpful, I think that with your heavier, more powerful tractor, you may find more uses for the spade than I have.

That said, the PTB has overall more applications and we have not found any reason to take it off since receiving it.

Read the included threads and make your own conclusions.

Welcome to TBN.

Check JC Whitney for the seatbelt

Berlon Industries has a number of tooth bar options as well. Prices seem reasonable.

I am making my own tooth bar for a BX25. I will probably have $200 in material but it is much more aggressive than any aftermarket ones I have browsed the net for . It has replaceable teeth. As soon as I finish I will post pictures on it. It bolts on with two bolts in the bucket sides.
