Well I took the plunge today, and went with green after checking out all of my options. Washington Tractor had a deal on a batch of leftover 2017 1025R TLBs that I couldn't refuse. Delivery in 1-2 weeks (the recent snowstorm is slowing down their deliveries).

Here is a pic (although mine won't actually be this one, someone else bought this one out from under me while I was looking at it, so mine is coming in from their warehouse).

Yes it is. I've used a rental a few times (been a long time though). And my son has a midsize New Holland and lots of experience, so he'll be a good teacher for me...

You will enjoy it. In my view the trick is in getting the right accessories. A tooth bar is good. Pallet forks are something I didn’t do for a dozen years. Should have done it sooner. I went with Artillian. Though they are expensive there are other things that you can add to their platform. I haven’t done the grapple, though I wish I had one 13 years ago. I did those projects the hard way. I have a Wallenstein chipper. Not much good on spruce but wonderful for most everything else. Have fun.

Thanks! Planning to get a tooth bar, and a brush cutter. Other accessories will have to wait a bit until my checkbook recovers...

Good stuff.

Remember to take things slow and keep any load low to the ground.

Read your Owner Manual all the way through. Twice. :)

Take the time to torque all of your wheel nuts and snug up any nut that you can see... just in case the dealership missed any of them during the 'wet-up'. Grease every nipple you can find (helps to familiarise yourself too).

And, indeed, have fun.

Great advice....I found 3 lugs loose at 6 hours when I decided to check torque before using my loader. Not sure what they were like when I received it.
