I have a curious question.
Did you purchase your tractor in Canada or the U.S. ?
If you check out both counties pricing which was the best?

Take care up there and enjoy.

I bought my Ford 1710 in Canada from a dealer near Ottawa. Price comparisons are a little difficult since the exchange rate has to be considered. It's my impression that tractors, for me, were a bit cheaper in the States than here when the $C was in the .90 cent range. The rate now in the mid 60 cent range, and I imagine tractors are quite a bit cheaper in Canada. At least, I heard some people from the NW states talking about bargain tractors in British Columbia. I sure hope the politicians who manipulate the exchange rates leave a few used tractors in Canada.

Most of my implements come from Canadian manufacturers. Due to the exchange rate, they're probably bargains as well.

Re: Ford 1710

How old is your tractor? There was a couple of service updates if it is older than 85? I think. There is a new mount for the hydraulic filter and a new dipstick which improves the flow of fluid and solves some slow implement problems.

Also there are brackets available to add a shock absorber to the front end that reduces wheel wobble on rough ground.

Re: Ford 1710

Yes. Del, I know you've got a 1710 that you speak well of. Thanks for the reply. I've got a repair manual, so I can figure out the year of manufacture, but I haven't looked it up. There is a shock absorber mounted horizontally on the front end, so I probably have a later model.

The implements are probably faster than I am, but that's true for many things I guess. Actually, I do run my idle at just under 1500 rpm when doing loader work. Otherwise the loader is a little slow if I'm on a slope and can't take my foot off the brakes to use the foot throttle. I suppose HST doesn't have that problem.

The tractor is doing great work this summer, and will be coming up for 600-hour maintenance soon. Yep, it's pretty new for an old tractor, and a bargain, I think, whether the dollars were Canadian or U.S. Guess it would be a good idea to run the serial number through my dealer and check for upgrades or recalls.
