Re: Today\'s stupid question: re ballast box

Thanks, I like that idea John. It had struck me that it was going to be stuck wherever I dropped it off. That would solve that problem.

That's an excellent idea, thanks. I've got some old piping in the garage taht would be perfect for the job.

Re: Today\'s stupid question: re ballast box

Is your Ballast box a Kubota brand? If so, mine has the hitch points up about 4 inches from the bottom of the box (there's also a metal lip-type brace on the bottom of mine). If I lower the lift arm adjustment (the long brass "nut" on the right lift arm as you face the rear of the tractor), I can get the lift arms to match the ballast box perfectly (assuming I am on flat ground--concrete garage floor).

BTW... I bought the casters at TSC. I believe that the total cost of the project was under $20 and took less than an hour to build.

Interesting. Mine is a Kubota also (B5320 I think) and the hitch points are right at the bottom.

The more I've been thinking about it the more I like the idea from another posyer of having a wheeled dolly that I can lower it onto when not in use so I can wheel it around easily.

Re: Today\'s stupid question: re ballast box

Thanks John.

Funny enough very recently I had made a variant of such a dolly to go down in our low crawl space so we could transport stuff we wanted to store down there around.

Mine for the tractor will have to be higher as without shifting the holes that are used by the lower link arms (which are in the right place for my rotary cutter) it'll need to be 6-9 inches high. I'll need to make sure it is stable as the weight could do a lot of damage if it tips over (probably onto my foot!).
