Tire ratchet straps?

I use ratchet straps with axle straps. I don't like the idea of using the frame to secure the vehicle to the trailer. The vehicle can bounce and move around when you tie it down using the frame.

Maybe times have changed, but I knew several guys who hauled new cars for Anchor Motor Freight in the 70's & 80's. All those cars & pickups were secured to the trailer by the frame. The frames had holes in them for this purpose, where R hooks, T hooks or J hooks were inserted.

I used to do it this way also. Bought all the J and T hooks, special chains, straps, ect.

Securing by the wheels is just a better way to do it. Rides so much better.

It's just that over time we have learned.

No idea how they do it today. Anchor folded up and the guys that I knew then are working elsewhere, retired or deceased.

Always used chain with clusters for the frame anchor points. I have used ratcheting tie downs to compress the suspension so the vehicle doesn't bounce. Never a problem.

I do this with Harleys. Doing this along with using wheel chocks, I haven't had one tip over on me yet. But you have to walk a fine line and not compress the forks too much.
