Tires Tire Pressure Poll

I have been searching, but am still a little confused on what tire pressure I should be running on my 2520 with R4 tires. When I got the rear tires loaded, I had the guy check the front tire pressure too. I currently have 40 PSI in the fronts, not sure about the rears. What PSI do you have in your fronts and rears? I am thinking 40 PSI is too high.

With loader 30 to 50 psi [depending on your typical loads] is good in front. Without loader you could lower it with good results. For rears you will seldom need more than 20-25.

Yep I would have said 40psi to high, Ideally tractor tyre pressure is based on what you are doing with the tractor, If you doing lost of loader work then you would probably want 30-40psi in the front's, to aid in better steering and so you don't pop the tyre of the rims. on the other hand if your towing implements, or need good traction, then lower tyre pressure is the way to go.
if this is the case, the rule of thumb is, if you position your tyre with one lug pointing straight down, the lug front and back of it should just be touching the ground, i.e. the more lugs touching the ground the better the traction, this would normally equate to around 20PSI, but keep in mind, this will change with temperature as well as what kind of load you have on the tractor and what the tyres are designed to run at. If the pressure is to low, then you run the risk of popping the tyre off the rim.

I run 25 in the front and 10 in the rear, unless I'm planning on some heavy lifting.

It really depends upon what kinds of work you're doing with the tractor. Lot's of front-end loader work - higher tire pressure.

Mowing on soft ground - lower tire pressure.

I've always adjusted the tire pressures on every tractor I've owned -- if I'm going to be doing something different.

That said - read the recommended pressures in the owner's manual and review info from the tire manufacturer as well as what is indicated on the sidewall of your tires.
