Are you sure they didn’t spray ether in there first? Doesn’t seem like a firecracker would be nearly enough “umphhh” to seat a bicycle tire, let alone anything bigger.

No, he had the match for the fuse right by the bead and if there was either in it, it would have wooft. The video started with him putting the thing in the tire which wasn't clearly shown, so maybe it was an m80 or something. I have to go check it out better.

Thanks chopped. I found it last night and was going to post it but storms kicked out the internet just when I was going to hit post. And later I couldn't find it. I have some firecrackers laying around that I will try next time/

So what to use for a bigger tire? A hand grenade? There is a youtube video CLEARLY showing that a regular car battery is actually full of hundreds of regular AA cells. Who knew?

I fought with some super singles once for days trying all manner of tricks to get them back on the rims. I finally used starting fluid and that would be my first choice from now on. I used a ten foot long stick and various personal safety gear. But I am not suggesting YOU do this.

I know a friend who put some air in a small (rotten) lawn and garden tire. It exploded on the bench, ripping open his hand and messing up the bones. Blew a hole in the ceiling. If he had been leaning over it, he would be dead. Tires of any size can be extremely dangerous and deserve the utmost of respect and caution.

1+ on the respect and caution. Had a friend loose hearing in one ear and lots of stitches in his scalp ,when a strap he had around a tire to seat the bead broke and hit him.
