Ive read a lot of posts about swapping the tires around to give more clearance for the tires to not hit the 3 point hitch arms. I bought a new 4 foot rotary cutter last week, and ran into the same problem. Since I had to assemble the cutter anyway, I thought I would try turning the hitch pins towards each other, instead of away. I gained an enormous amount of room this way. There is no way I couldve used it the other way with out damageing the tires, and after this, had plenty of room. Are there any draw backs to this? Thanks guys!

If it works then you've solved the problem.

The disadvantage, for some, is that if the turnbuckles are on the outside then you need to loosen a turnbuckle to swing the arm in, when you want to detach the mower. It sounds like you don't have this problem, so there is no disadvantage in this case.

We turn the pins in on most of our cutters, due to the limited span on the lift arms on these compacts.

hi there 1yammerslammer,
I'd still recommend swapping the tires out too- you'll gain A LOT of stability doing this and it'll make for a safer tractor too.

Rear tire tread slap with the lift arms on my 240D has always been a problem.
The 11.2 X 24 rear ag tire tread allows little space for 3 pt. sway with a five foot Woods brush hog or a loaded 3 pt. scoop.
Gets really nasty if the tractor travel is parallel or angled on a hillside and not perpendicular.
Turning the pins in vs. having them out helps, but does not eliminate the problem for me.
Suspect it could be worse if I had a set of high tread rice tires on the rear wheels.
