Tips for a rotary cutter newbie

I am now the proud owner of one slightly used Rankin 48" rotary cutter from my local dealer. Conveniently, it's already painted green and someone already slapped some Deere stickers on it. Plans are to keep my grazing pastures trimmed to about an 8" grass height. I've never used one of these things before and I thought I'd ask for some words of wisdom before I go and hurt someone with this thing.
