They're in Blissfield. I just went to their site and I didn't see any course offerings. They may not do that anymore.

There are a lot of places to take a class though. Do some internet searching, or get a copy of Fine Homebuilding. They usually have lots of ads in there.

I think I'd be real careful sticking my hand in there for firewood. It just might bite, the firewood. A home that nice would be very very hard to leave.

Happy wood makes a happy fire?

Actually, since our neighbors are pretty close, and we are a bit too rural for them already, I felt like I should make something nice for the yard. It turns out that we get enough drop and chop from the trees that, while I take wood from this little shed for the fire because it's dry, I have most of my wood in a big pile further back in the yard where they don't have to look at it.

I've attached a picture of the other outbuilding I built about ten years ago. It's an 8X8 garden shed, but I wanted something that added to the property, not detracted from it.

Yes/yes

Specifically, I used 6X6s from Menards that were treated to refusal (that is, only on the outside) and the 8 footers were $10 a piece at the time. They were also still a little green (as in wet/new) so the cutting was a bit easier. I set the frame on buried concrete blocks so they don't stay wet. Any wood would have worked. These were cheap and using PT wood seemed like a good idea. Use a mask if you're using a power saw.

If you have any trees on your lot that your dropping anyway, it would be a good opportunity to hone your broadaxing skills and chop them out of tree stock. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Actually, just after I finished it, an opossum tried to move in, but we have dogs who are loose in the yard. That was a very unhappy opossum unitl it moved out of the yard. I suppose I'm lucky none of the dogs actually got hold of it. Ever look in a opossum's mouth? Yikes.

Also had carpenter bees move in, but we doused them and caulked the holes.
