/ Tilt Meters #22
Hi EBS, and all the Guys,
I recommend in the instructions that come with all the
tiltmeters that a magnet not be used to mount the meter.
Two reasons. First, the ball is stainless steel, but still
slightly magnetic with a strong enough magnet. Second, a
magnetic mount will allow the meter to move out of level if
struck with a limb, etc. Lets say it is moved 5 degrees, and
you think you are on a 15 degree slope, only to learn from
the accident investigator that you were on a 20 degree
slope. BUMMER!!!!! Don't say old Rick didn't tell you so.
By the way, I learned yesterday that I have a few tiltmeters
mounted on military trucks that are in Iraq right now.
I could not be more proud!!! However I told the truck
manufacturer that if the truck was hit with a scud missle,
I AIN'T COVERING THE WARRANTY. Thanks Guys for everything. Rick
