Tiller versus plow, cultivator, and disk harrow

Thought it might help to have a picture. Here's one of my Gravely rotary plow. Note: it isn't on the tractor in the pic; it's sitting on that black bucket.

The rotary plow could give you a plow pan, but less likely because you generally don't stay at a fixed depth. You can go from just skimming the surface to about 8-10" deep, just by the place you put the depth wheels or the distance you drop the shaft on the plow.

Here's one of my soil ripper, otherwise known now as chisel plows, on my JD 4010. Used to be on a JD M, which was 18 hp also.

I've done my garden once with this. Have bought a couple of disc hillers that I plan to attach to that 2x2 bar in place of the chisel plows right behind the wheels to hopefully make raised rows, to replace my Gravely plow. Not sure it'll work yet. Will have pics and report later. Can use some of the chisel plow attachment rig to attach the disc hillers that I got from Agri-Supply.
