Tiller Tiller Depth Control ?

Richard- Interesting option. I bet it could come down in a few hours too. Which means after it had served it's main purpose for me I could easily move it somewhere else. I'm thinking "a little retreat" out in the woods! Got any names or websites for manufacturers?

DaveM, I keep my tiller skids set for maximum depth, so when I disconnect it, I park it with the skids sitting on two short pieces of 4 x 4 so the tines are not touching the floor.

Bird- That's what I'll do too for the time being except they'll keep the tines off the GROUND /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif.

I've been blowing alot of hot air on this board about my almost certain purchase of a tiller. Today I finally found a dealer that would rent me just a tiller. A pretty good deal - a brand new Befco for $55 a day. I just got through tilling in my topsoil on about 3500 square feet and it worked great. The reason I posted in this thread is that this particular tiller has a stand on the front corner that holds the front of the tiller up off the floor (or ground) when not in use. The stand moves up and out of the way when the tiller is in use.

As for the Befco they called it a 42" but it was much bigger than that - probably a 50". I think the model was T-130. It worked very well on my 2710.

My tiller purchase is now on hold until I need one again.

Tomorrow we are faced with laying 6 pallets of bemuda grass on that new soil. Ouch...

Alan, I think most, if not all, tillers have that little stand; as does my Bush Hog. And I've known of several people who forgot to raise it after hooking up and it just bends the bejabbers out of'em when you start tilling./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Instead of raising mine, I just take it off completely since I only unhook the tiller in one particular spot.

The one I got was from Menard's. I have to go over there today and will look at the mfg. It's considered portable and yes could come down easily. It's all screwed together. You also don't have to pay taxes on it and aren't subject to zoning laws, etc.
