Tie Rod Replacement

Looking for some help, I have a 08 5600 Toolcat that needs the tie rod assembly replaced and lower ball joint. Can't seem to spin the old tie rod out to replace without the hyd wheel cylinder spinning. Any help on removal would be greatly appreciated. Thx Steve.

Have not worked on your machine but most have flat spots on the shaft somewhere. I'm looking at bobcat parts but would need a serial number to find the correct parts list

When I replaced one on my B Series some years ago there was indeed a flat spot on the shaft. It was too narrow and I ended up grinding down the side of the open end wrench to get it to fit. Hope this helps...

Thanks for the responses, The previous owner of the machine informed me the other 3 tie rods were replaced by a bobcat dealership and it looks like adapters were put in to hold the cylinder from turning. The one I did had a non adjustable tie rod and no flat spot to hold the cylinder. Had to cut the tie rod at the nut and use a socket and impact wrench to burp it out of the cylinder. All good now.

I had the same problem not being able to grip the cylinder. Thanks to Toolcat Steve's advice I ended up cutting the inner ball joint at the nut with a cut off wheel on a grinder. I think the cutting heat helped release the nut. Thanks for hint.

I had a similar job and discovered that the shaft flat spot for a wrench is only on one side of the steering shaft (the passenger side of the machine)
