Thanks Guys, still thinking about it.

Looks like the little woman may be putting a stop to the money for now. Things are tight right now.

I appreciate the time and info you all gave me.

I recently purchased a 824 mechanical "weld-on" thumb from USA Attachments for my L39. I did the welding myself and I absolutely am so happy with it. Before the thumb, I had to chain whatever I was trying to lift and move - so - it seems like the weight and stress was the same on the bucket and dipper stick frame.

The thumb fit perfectly and I've lifted 4' x 3' x 4" concrete pads with ease. It took a little while to get the hang of the mech thumb but the learning came pretty fast. This past weekend I clamped on to a 40' telephone pole and the thumb was fantastic - lifted with no strain at all. I've had to be careful about not clamping too hard on the concrete pads because I crushed a few before I learned - easy does it!

I looked at the bolt-on thumbs and just felt like the weld-on was the best way to go for me. The folks at USA Attachments were great to deal with and the thumb arrived in 3 days.

Just my thoughts
