Three Point Trailer Hitch Reciever

StanR, similar to mine that I made for my 1980 Kubota B7100. Used it to skid out 5 cord of Maple firewood this Feb. I run my chain through a loop on the lower hitch & up to the top link attach point. That way you are pulling from lower down & lifting from the upper attachment point. I didn't invent it, saw it on one of these tractor forums somewhere .....

I like your three point hitch attachment, that's a different design with the single post to the top link.

One of the folks questioned the height of the tube on the originators attachment concerning keeping the receiver level as the 3 pt is raised and lowered.
I am surprised this has not been discussed or questioned more?

As I had stated originally, I went off the height and width of the (quick hitch compatible) york rake I have (even though the trailer hitch is not quick hitch compatible). The fact that the plane of the trailer hitch changes slightly through it's travel up and down doesn't matter. That is compensated for with the way the hitch fits over the ball, no different than when you are pulling into a driveway that is not level with the street. No need to mess with 70 years of successful trailer hitch design.

Your copying of a 70 year old basic design is fine but the question "LeeJohn"
asked:" One ??, why did you make the upright post so long? Your lower links are level and the upper is up. If they were the same it would go up and down and the hitch would stay flat." is a reasonable question. What he wanted to know, I believe, is why you did it that way when the correct way wouldn't require any more time or material. Someone copying your method might as well do it right.
If you only have one piece of equipment with a ball hitch you can level the receiver with the top link adjustment, for sure, but most folks who are scrambling to rearrange equipment in a barn have more than one piece and often at different tongue heights. It is common to leave the "Bulldog" jack alone and lower the 3 point unit under the ball socket and then raise the equipment a little and go without locking to the ball.
Care must be taken that the jack is not jammed against the ground coming out of a dip or it may be jammed and made worthless except for use as a single height stand..
Category 1,2,and 3 doesn't have much standardization any more as far as the distance between the top and bottom links where they attach to a tractor so a little measuring is required to make a unit that will keep the bottom links and top link parallel.
