This may seem an odd question but I will not be near the tractor for a while and wish to get a head start on parts gathering.

My threads are a bit messed up on the front axle spindle. I do not have metrics dies but wish to purchase the correct die for thread cleanup. What size do I need for the spindle nut on a YM2000 2WD? I.E. M18 x 1.5 or what????

Thanks in advance for any info.

If you have the parts book check diagram 12, part 12 (I'm saying this just so you know there is a ready source to check all those bolt sizes on the tractor). It shows the bolt size as 14x25. So 14mm is your diameter, and I know it is referred to as "standard" metric thread...I think that is 1.5. Someone else will undoubtedly know. The couple tap/die sets we have in the shop have at least two variants, maybe three for most diameters. You can buy a set from Harbor Freight for under $50 (or at least you could a few years ago)....one of ours came from there and has held up very well.

The spindle nut is 20m, not sure on the pitch.

In a situation like that I would recommend a thread chasing file. The are quick, and only repair what is needed without harming existing threads. I have use them alot in different situations. With one 4 sided double ended file you have about every possibility.
