I don't know where they put it. I'll try to look around in the next day or two and see if I can see it. Until you posted the pic of the controller I honestly didn't know what they installed.

I believe, the clutch connector is on the right side, behind the rear tire. The leads are short, so the module would probably be there. But, if they put it up front under the dash, they'd have to run 2 wires forward and 2 wires back. .. or maybe 4 wires up and back. ??

I already knew the soft start controller existed (from tbn) and explained my issue and asked if they would give me one under warranty. They said take the tractor to the dealer and they would install it. I think it took about a week to get the part.

I spoke with an AGCO rep, who had no clue, but was going to do some checking. I spoke with the shop, who installed your unit. They were able to give me an AGCO P/N and cost of $401.50, for the part(s) kit, which they installed for you.

I haven't given up on the GDI unit, if I can only find a source, which will sell me one!

RE: GDI SoftStart Controller for Electric Clutches:
I'm about, at my whits end in trying to purchase a controller! I've got about 5 pages of business names, phone numbers and rep. names, including the manufacturer. They just don't seem to want to sell them, except to clutch manufacturers. All businesses, which might be able to use them, have said "they've never heard of such a product, but would be interested and to let them know, if I learn more".

They have made a fairly significant effort to promote the product, i.e. YouTube, web pages for Zero Turn Mower applications, clutch manufacturers, etc..

I really don't know, what to make of it! :anyone:

Sorry to hear about your difficulty in trying to track down a place that will sell you one. Hard to imagine no one wants to take your money. LOL!

On a more positive note, I hooked up my new Wallenstein chipper to the 1529 today. Was checking for PTO shaft length and bind. Long story short, the electric clutch behaves very nicely with the chipper. I think the flywheel in the chipper is just the right sized load for it. Much nicer than the rotary cutter.

Stinks about the cost from Agco but I'm not surprised. The same dealer also quoted me over $200 for a Agco block heater. The parts guy even scratches his head sometimes when he looks up the cost of some parts. I guess that's how the dealers and manufacturers make their money. Hope you can find a cheaper source.

I'm guessing, the part supplied by the dealer, was only a small part of Massey's system. ... thus the small price they charged me vs. the $401, yours was billed at. I don't believe, that they use the "SoftStart" system.

I may, put some stuff together and try to build my own operating system.

Actually, I've come to believe, that the PTO clutches on the M/Fs, aren't "electric", but "hydraulic", with an electric solenoid valve activating them. Of course, that throws a whole different light on things! The M/F service manual, pretty much sucks, so that isn't much help.

I looked over my tractor today and can't seem to find the a module that matches your picture. I did find a blue connector that seems out of place wire tied into the harness on the right side of the engine compartment. It goes back under the dash where I can't see what it goes to.

Greetings All. My neighbor has a nearly new Kobota 40 hp (series unknown) with a electro-hyd PTO switch that appears to be the same as on my 2005 MF 1440 Hydro. Perhaps looking around a Kobota forum might provide more info or a better idea.
