I couldn't seem to find a "small tool box", that I felt would fit well. That's why I chose the 30 cal. ammo box. It's about 11" long, so could be moved further to the left, behind the SMV sign.

I received, modified and installed the box leveler, today. There was a bit more to the fitment process, than I had planned on.
The original and new were close in length, however, the new one was about 1" longer, when closed, so I cut 1" off the threaded portion, as it was bottoming out on the bottom fork/draft arm. The bottom pin was the same size, as original, however the fork on the new one was only 5/8" wide, instead of 3/4", as are the draft arms, so, I had to grind the inside of the bottom yoke, to open it, to 3/4". The top knuckle had a 5/8" hole, while the shoulder bolt from the original was 3/4", so I elected to use the original bolt, requiring drilling out the top knuckle to 3/4". Then, the knuckle was about 1/2" too wide for the shoulder on the bolt, so had to grind it down to slightly less then the shoulder length. All in all, it worked out to my satisfaction.

I used a larger tool box in the same spot as yours. I ended up cutting and extending the SMV sign so it would clear.

After having the MF 1529 for nearly a 1-1/2 months, I decided, it was time to find out what the black handle, by the right front corner of the seat was for. I was pushing some trees over today and had occasion to use the differential lock and always felt, "that handle" had something to do with the diff. lock, etc.. I was unable to move it, at anytime, so got serious. As it turns out, it's to lock the loader controls. A few raps with a plastic hammer and some oil made it work! One more item, off the agenda.

I have to be honest, I did get the NAA out to move some firewood containers and my one coal container to the back of the house, with the 3ph forks.

I am enjoying this thread, as I just purchased a used 1529 a few months back. I have not had the chance to use it much until last week when I finally started my driveway project. I was successful in re-working the drive and now I am just waiting on gravel and then to stack stones around the edges. Love that tractor.

I'm glad you are! TBN doesn't get a lot of responses, so, it hard to tell, if anybody is getting any good from the posts or not.

I check this thread every time I access the forum. I hit 160 hrs on my 1529 today. Got it when it was in the 90s.

I found a new use for mine last week. Here is the photo:

To think, if you had a bigger tractor and bigger bucket, you could have gone for the "bigger one"!

I did a video this morning of my 1529 "cold start". I showed it to 2 of my diesel mechanics. The farm tractor mech. and the heavy equipment mech. While their roles seemed to be reversed today .... the farm tractor guy was working on the township grader and the heavy equipment guy, showed me an old IH tractor, which they had just rebuilt the engine on.

My farm guy, said "I need to work it". The heavy equip. guy showed me the smoke from the one he just rebuilt ... smoked and chugged for about 1 minute.

I guess, that's all good news, but I wish it was clean, like the NH I worked on. I'm thinking, I might try to use an infrared thermometer, on the glow plugs, to see, if I can detect any heat, from the outside. ... trouble is, the laser on my thermometer isn't working.

..... Let's try YouTube

Thanks! The impression, I'm getting is, that it might be OK and may get better with use. I guess, I'm just not used to diesels. And then, the NH starting, so clean, makes me envious. I would like to test the glow plugs, if I could get to them, without removing the fuel tank.
