Any thoughts about this attachment for clearing about 40 acres of 2-4 inch hardwoods (thickly concentrated)?
Baumalight BrushFire - 500 Series - YouTube

They claim it can handle brush up to 6 inches in diameter.

Prices I'm seeing are between $18,000 and $20,000

What carrier will you be using? Also if its a one job deal or personal use id vote buying a good used head over a new one. A used Fecon can be had for low teens. Havent heard much on baumalights but the little info I have gathered suggest sticking to a Fecon,Fae, or Cimaf.

This would actually be their PTO version for an Ag tractor.

I find their marketing very nice (very good graphic designer, they have), and although I don't consider them as direct competitors to the industrial-class mulchers, I too would like to hear comments about the these products. How do they compare with Loftness' (productivity, durability)? How long to replace a full set of carbide tips?

We just bought one works great but my boss THOUGHT it would be BIG enough to clean 500ac. after a half a day found out other wise.

For sale in middle Georgia now

Ok. Here's a few questions for you Hawg Daddy.

- How much did you manage to clear in half a day?
- What size was the stuff you were clearing?
- Do you have the PTO version or skidsteer?

i see. i don't need anything exact. just a rough guess. i have 40 acres to clear. i don't mind doing this 1 acre at a time for 40 days. i just don't want to do it at 1/10 of an acre per day over 400 days.

i am new here and i am by no means a mulching head specialist.... but am a stump grinder specialist. the teeth used on this head in question are a version of a modified stump grinder tooth. they will work well for the first 30 hrs or so, but slightly dull stump type teeth will reduce the performance substantially imo. on larger hp machines more dull teeth have some forgiveness because the hp grunts throught it. on smaller hp machines sharp teeth are a must have to be productive at all. this head seems to have many many teeth (an assumption based on the tooth style) and at im guessing 10 to 12 bucks a pop it would be very expensive to replace slightly dull teeth on a regular basis. i would find out how many teeth are on it, their cost, and whether driving unit is at higher end of the hp class capable of driving the head before going further. if it is not then you should look elsewhere imo and stay away from the stump tooth type heads

A ruff guess would be 1-2 acres a day he told me it eats though it like butter just too slow foe the amount of land we have to clear. Thanks HD

They are all on ebay 60" skidsteer head is $22k, 48" skidsteer is right at $15k, excavator heads are from $16k-$20k 30" and 48" and pto 60" 3pt version is $17.5k.

Looking at getting some in that line for my 5065E.
Thanks

How many PTO hp is your tractor you will be using ? We have a Fecon BH 120 on a 140 pto hp tractor and in small 2-4 " real thick material it will work circles around our other units.

I think you would really struggle with only 65 hp
