But seriously, my mom planted many flower beds with day lilies and other perennials in areas where my dad didn’t/couldn’t mow. Works great. Keeps weeds down. Low maintenance. Many varieties available. Looks nice. SAFE.

Anyhow, not for everyone, but just a thought.

Even helps with erosion control on the slopes.

I take it that the 1023 has a belly mower. I have a similar situation. I cant get my JD4400 up it in 2wd without destroying the grass. I have a 3pt 72" Befco. I must use FWD and back up the slope with a running start. At the top of the rise my wife decided to put in a flower garden for me to navigate around. I would never consider traversing that slope.

It's not a problem it's an excuse for more tractor and equipment;

Good suggestion Doughknob. I also have a dam bank with about the same slope that I've tried keeping cut for about 10 years. Without a doubt, I've probably burn up a couple of mowers working that slope over the years. Modifying lawn mowers with outriggers, cutting with different slants, and as a last resort cutting it with the weed trimmer all proved either too much work or simply didn't work at all.

I suppose old age has gotten to me, but I've also decided this year that just leaving it alone and let Mother Nature do its thing. The more I see the weeds grow taller the less I care. Now that's how I control the OCD problem :)

Another vote for simply don't mow it. Scrape some of the sod off and go nuts with wildflower seeds. Some lillies should be able to cover it nicely and come back thick every year.

It will save you all the work AND look better for everyone else driving by on the road.

But also, low range 4WD you should be able to drive straight up that. You'd have to back into the road at the bottom, so do it early on sunday morning? If the church goers aren't too thick, that is (my busy road is pretty empty on weekend mornings lol).

I thought this thread was going to be about a financial institution. Like, maybe about the loan terms for that pretty red truck.

Many of these problem banks seem to be along the road. I don't want my house to look nice from the road. I don't want the house to be visible. I would plant all-season view-blocking trees or shrubs.

Hard part is keeping the county road crew from "cleaning it up" for you..... I'll be putting up some fencing to keep their mower from cutting my screen.
