I'd have thought that pallets would be pretty standard plus or minus ten to fifteen pounds. Strapping couldn't be more than a few pounds too.Shipping weights are going to include pallets and straps... Wood is enough of a variable it wouldn't be accurate. As you stated, close is only good enough for those with high loader capacities and if taking the time out to do it, do it right...
Just checked with Mr. Google who says a standard 48x40x6 pallet weighs between 33-48 lbs depending on type of wood and moisture.
Of course it's possible EA just doesn't routinely weigh palletized grapples for shipping.
