I chose a dual lid, but I think the difference would be minor after the limited use I've had so far. My reason for choosing the dual lid was increased clamping force from 2 cylinders.

lol I wasn't trying to start anything.

No harm no foul. But there are several "sticky subjects", or worm cans.

1: What is the best tractor to buy?
2: Which tire type R1, R4, R3 is best?
3: Which transmission is best?
4: How many lids should a grapple have?
5: How wide should my grapple be?

The basic problem with these questions is that they cannot be answered. Or the answer is "it depends", but a lot of folks will defend their choices to the death. In my opinion the answers are simple.

1: Kioti
2: R4
3: Hydrostatic
4: One
5: As narrow as possible.:)

These answers of course are all in jest.

Exactly. Now if we could just see eye to eye on the AR15 thing!!

Number of lids is one of those things that is hard to judge without actual experience and most grapple buyers don't have experience before buying. Dual lids are great for holding loads of small bits and pieces but really aren't needed for large objects or sticky stuff like brush. An extra lid costs more and weighs more so I'd advise any inexperienced potential grapple buyer to get one lid unless you are picking up construction debris as a major part of your intended grapple use. Just look at the human hand for verification. How many thumbs do you have on each?

Well that is pretty simple too. For low end AR15's I like DPMS. For high end I like Daniel Defense. Which ones do you like? Oh, and do you prefer direct impingement gas systems or operating rod?
