To be fair, the trade off is that a load of brush is more difficult to dump as the sharp backwards oriented tine teeth will snag brush while the other style is smooth and doesn't snag.

Interestingly I do not find it very difficult to dump. At least not in my personal hands on experience... I have not used a smooth grapple and cannot compare, but I have had no major hangups that would cause me grief with the Wicked Grapple. And I have plenty of reasons to not have a pile of burning nuggets and brush following my back out of the fire!

Perhaps catching could happen in some circumstances, but I have never found it to be problematic. I suppose if you wanted to slide in and out of piles like with pallet forks, but I don't do any of that. I like to grub, rip, grab, haul, and dump.

Check out the type of roots and brush here. Lots of stringy roots, brush, and deadfall.

Just sharing some empirical input from an actual user.

They are sized pretty well that anything that hangs up will break and fall out. Yet still rip out roots pretty good and great grip on odd shaped or small surface area stuff you want to grab.

The most amazing thing to me is that after about 100 hours of abuse I still can't slide a piece of paper between the lid and any of the teeth when it's closed. Hard to explain but there is a good 1 1/2"-2" matching surface top and bottom and it's still air tight when the grapple is closed. Figured something would have shifted by now
