Mad Mac sorry to hear about your grapple. I do agree no matter how tough something is nothing is indestructible.

I added links to the images. Anyone else having trouble seeing the images originally posted?

I see the pictures in the links now. Ouch. I would not have thought that log would damage the grapple.

Well, not by itself it didn't. It was the culmination of three years of abuse. That pine log was still full of pine tar, pitch, resin, sap, whatever it's called. It was so heavy it mashed the front tires down and lifted the back wheels off the ground. Our Mahindra 5555 weighs three tons.

This morning, I woke up at five am with a solution to this problem. If it's practical, it would be the strongest single lid root grapple on the planet. Assembly would be a bit more fiddly but very little additional material would be required, keeping down the cost and the weight.

Add two hinges for the lid, one on each side of the bracket for the hydraulic cylinder. That would take a load off the bracket and make the lid itself a stressed member to help oppose the force of the hydraulic cylinder and greatly stiffen the long top bar.

Spacers could be added between the hinges and the bracket to form a claw, making the assembly even stronger. The claw would have to be put on the lid pivot bar when the lid was being welded up, then weld the claw to the top bar of the main frame when the outer hinges are attached.

The Xtremely Wicked Root Grapple.

It looks like EA is already doing something like that with the Best Rated 66 Inch Wicked Root Rake Grapple from Everything Attachments

The hydraulic cylinder mount has been cracked for a while. That will cause the lid not to close all the way

This is your picture of the front of the mount:

I think all you need to do is strengthen the mount at the base where it attaches to the frame.

Here is your view of the hinges:
